Jerri, Carolyn and Patter Toots: Yes, we’re fine. Thanx for askin’. The mud flow is now not a problem as everything’s turned to ice and snow. Carolyn, I think your shed (which awaits you when you come here to cook for me) is right in the line of any future mud flow, but I will lend you my shovel for the downpour, so you’ll be fine. As far as snow, I do think this is the biggest snowfall we’ve had since I moved up here a couple years ago. I figure to get the car out in about a week or so. I have food for a couple months, so that’s not a problem. As long as we have power, we’re fine, and even if we don’t, we’re fine. My two cats have cabin fever, and most of the day for them is spent on a pillow, watching the snowfall through the window. This morning I’ve been digging out a trail and potty area for the dogs. My two older dogs are not thrilled with the snow, but Rowdy, my rambunctious baby (and biggest) dog, LOVES it. He would prefer to stay outside most the day and frolic in the snow. I bring him in, and then it takes forever to get out the teeny snow balls that cling to his fur on his legs, belly, and between his toes. Ten minutes later, he wants out again. Haven’t been to the post office in about three days, so I know my office box is crammed. We have teeny-weeny post boxes, so I can’t imagine what Becky, the postmistress, does with all the accumulating mail everyone's been getting. There’s been no traffic up and down the canyon road all morning. How’s the weather with the rest of you? If you tell us, please let us know where you live. I live in the mountains of Southern Cal.

Ann, you're my favorite writer and with the number of books I read.. that's saying a lot. I'm so sorry you aren't feeling so great. Keeping my fingers crossed that you will have an early spring and feel much better.

Hello to all:
It stormed here last night, but nothing is compared to what the Ca. people are enduring. Canyon Pam: are you ok? I surely hope so.
Hope everyone is feeling well this morning. I slept later 2 days since I was a no call no show at work.
Am going to a thrift store today, Ann, wish you could go with me. I usually buy books for the most part. The last time I went there found one that my soldier would like, it was a kid book, but the kind he used to read. Ency. Brown. I sent it on to him.
Co. Rosie: hope you are feeling much better. Linda Bug: prayers for your nephew. I still want you to come by and see me. Kristen: are the non toxic products helping any? Ind. Joan: hope all is well with you too. Carleen, Missmimi, and when I get on here I forget who all to address. But, to all I you I hope you are safe, and warm and feeling well.
Take care. Carolyn

I am rereading Echoes in the Darkness and I was right, I have read it before. But it was many years ago, probably right after it came out and I've forgotten a lot. Good book, but not nearly as well written as Ann's books are.

An, I've had rotator cuff surgery, and agree with Connie L. - if that's what your doctors are recommending, get it done as soon as possible so you don't tear it worse and make it a more chancy repair. Otherwise, the surgery is fairly easy, as surgeries go - pretty painful the first few days, but you should feel good as new after the recovery period.

Ann,
My husband has had 4 rotator cuff surgeries, and there is nothing to repair now.
He didn't follow doctors orders, and went out cutting down tree's, and every other thing he wasn't supposed to do. He had both of them each repaired twice.
I believe the sooner you have it done the better. You will give them more to work with if you don't tear it worse.
Janice, if your sister lives in Oregon and could come to the new Hospital in Eugene. There is a doctor Wu who is a Gastrointoligist. Spell not right but I think you know what I mean.
I had a terrible time for the last 3 months, and he got me all fixed up. I have heard a lot of good things about him.
Good Luck all, and have a wonderful weekend.
p.s. My husband just started reading my Ann Rule books this week and decided he really like them.

I've still got about 50-60 pages to go in "And Never Let Her Go". When I read either a legal thriller or a true crime book, one of my favorite parts is a courtroom scene, and that's where I am right now. Opening statements and closing arguments tend to bore me, but the actual testimony is fascinating. I know that in some other Ann Rule books, the perpetrator pleaded guilty before trial, so I am savoring every moment in this trial! I'm planning on starting the 2009 edition of "The Stranger Beside Me" as soon as I finish the one I'm reading now.
I'm wondering if Ann ever had a situation where she spent months following a case, only to see the defendant get acquitted at the trial. It must have been a big disappointment if such a thing ever did happen.
Ann, I saw your entry in which you said you don't like Judge Judy. I've never watched her show, but I do like to watch The People's Court with Judge Marilyn Milian. She keeps a tight rein on her courtroom. Judge Greg Mathis' show comes on just before hers on Channel 57 in Philadelphia. I don't like him because I don't think he has good control of the litigants in his courtroom. Well, maybe different styles appeal (no pun intended) to different T.V. viewers.
