Ann,
I have always been interested in killers and why they kill. I don't know how many books/movies I have on different one time killers and serial killers. I have two of your books and actually just bought the movie version of The Stranger Beside Me. Shockingly, I also would never have imagined that beings I come from a small midwestern town that I would have heard of murders going on here. But shockingly within the past few years there have been two. One was a young boy who was supposedly killed by his brother with a hammer. The other one I went to high school with. They just found her body.
I have always wondered why people kill others and have done a lot of research on different serial killers. The one I have done the most research on is Jack the Ripper. But I really enjoy reading your books because you try to find out why they did what they did. Thank you for everything.
P.S. Being a college student who goes alone, after reading your books, I've learned to carry either a pocket knife or pepper spray with me now. Thanks and I hope to get more of your books.

I'm rereading Bitter Harvest. With the wonders of the Internet

I'll often look up the subject's mugshots via the Department of Corrections sites. Made the bad mistake of looking up Debora Green at the KDOC website. She is one truly frightening woman, glaring at the camera. Scarier still that she's very intelligent and wants to escape.

Travis there is a world of difference between autism and Anti-Social Personality Disorder, although I do agree the lack of emotion/caring about others seems similar. The difference is that those with autism don't generally understand that their behaviour is wrong but can, in many cases, be taught how to behave appropriately. People with anti-social personality disorder know right from wrong but simply don't care. They have control of what they do and can and do act appropriately when the situation calls for it or they can gain from it. At such times they can be quite charming, which is why when they do go on the rampage like Bundy did people who know them always act so surprised and shocked.

I watched a documentry on Diane Downs the other night on a show called 20/20 and I went out the next day and borrowed it from the Local Library and know I have your website address I know what I will be asking for for Christmas - your books

Charlie..is Charles Campbell..a murderer put to death here in Wa state. He raped a woman and went to jail..he was on some type of work release..and he went over and killed his victim..and her daughter..the neighbor was concerned and went over and got her throat slit as well. ANYWAY..my husband attended high school with Charlie..and he said he was a terrifying kid. He would just walk down the hall and hit kids.

I live in a little remote town in outback NSW, Australia, even though our nearest book store is about four hours away, ebay tends to sell most of your books, I have enjoyed them through my life, had to stop while my girls went through toddler stage but am back reading again. Thanks for the enjoyment even though I scare myself when I read them late at night. PS: It's even scarier as I live next to the Police station in a police house!
